Our vision is to be the bank for the unbanked. We promote financial inclusion by engaging segments that the mainstream financial institutions have not served.
Our mission is to bridge the great financial divide. This divide exists because mainstream financial institutions do not have the skills and infrastructure that can adequately address the financing needs of some segments in the value chain.
By choice, we are a non-bank. Our principals believe that the innovation and strategic flexibility are extremely important in effectively reaching out to the unbanked sector.
We are a fully licensed finance company incorporated under Philippine law. Operations are confined to Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Southern Luzon. In addition to our financing activities in the Philippines, we operate a microfinance subsidiary in Toronto, Canada incorporated under Canadian Federal Law. Our Canadian operations are presently confined to the Greater Toronto area but plans are afoot to cover the entire Ontario province and eventually expand to Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Our founding chairman is Joey Bermudez, a banker for forty years who did a lot of work in microfinance, small enterprise finance, migrant workers’ finance, rural finance, and development finance in all of the banks that he worked for. He had previously served as CEO of two commercial banks and was president of the Management Association of the Philippines, the country’s largest organization of CEOs and business owners.
Other major shareholders of the company include:
Mr. Jimmy Tan, a businessman with substantial interests in manufacturing and trading.
Ms. Ester Bermudez, a former finance executive and now Managing Director of Maybridge (Financial Canada), Inc.
Mr. Noel Gonzales, a former banker and now a businessman with deep interests in property development, leisure development and investment banking.
Mr. Luis Sumabat, a former banker and now a businessman with interests in BPO, consumer finance, asset management, and information technology.
Mr. Jose Nerio Salamillas, a former banker, former President of Maybridge, and now a senior executive in one of the country’s largest property development groups.
Ms. Josefina Natividad, an active banker for over thirty years and now President and Chief Executive Officer of Maybridge.
